SUPPORTING THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER

WHO: Executive Producer Sean Maxwell who is involved with the Music, Film, Fashion and Modeling Industry.

 

WHAT: Executive Producer Sean Maxwell is producing a Fashion Show to bring together a diversity of talents to support a worthy cause. Portions of Ticket Sale Proceed Profits will be going to help in the fight against Breast Cancer. The non-profit charity organization to receive the proceeds will be the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (http://www.gabcc.org)

 

WHEN: Saturday April 26, 2008 – 6PM Start; 9:30 PM End

 

WHERE: Opera at 1150 B Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, 30309 (Opera Entrance on Crescent Avenue)

 

WHY: Breast Cancer is still a common cause of deaths worldwide and continues to require support in the fight against it. Here in the United States, breast cancer is the third most likely cause of cancer death. Around the world the fifth most common cause of cancer death is attributed to Breast Cancer. Breast cancer is the most predominant cause of cancer death among women worldwide. In 2005, breast cancer caused 502,000 deaths (7% of cancer deaths; almost 1% of all deaths) worldwide.

I STILL have to rebraid my hair but haven't found or made the time to do so.  Altho it takes 1 1/2 hours to braid and perhaps another 10-15 minutes to include the ornamentation, the key word is er, "do it"!, which I gotta do.  Perhaps tonight since I'm not going back to work until next week...part-time gig, ya dig?!

Let me tell you the marvelous words I rec'd about this particular design I wore:

I am choreographing a show coming up March 8th. They are looking for a designer. Would you be interested?

I replied to her message on the 23rd and left my phone no. 

Yesterday after rehearsal and walking around Atlantic Station--first time there being a "tourist"--headed back to our side of town.  While waiting for my designer friend to come back to the car from shopping at Walmart--I knew if I went in for 1 thing....well, ya know--I received a phone call from Nat of NatBrown Modeling Agency.   So, after getting all the particulars squared away, I told her I would most definitely be interested in doing the show. 

By the way, she's a Myspace Addict as well!!!! ha ha ha  I tell ya, Myspace has been a viable part of my business's exposure.  I know the first or second thing that comes out of my mouth is "Do you have a myspace page?"  So, I got a few new requests to send out from the models I picked at yesterday's rehearsal for April 26th's show at Opera Atlanta Lounge.  The event is called "A Diversity of Talents Fashion Show".

I had an awe!some time at last night's fashion mixer  at Opera Atlanta Lounge.  This was a first for me.  I've always wanted to attend a mixer and receive invites to do so but, ahem, I'm shy.  Of course, no one believes that tho.  Oh well.  I went with my designer friend, Lamar, of Clack Designs and we had a ball!  Looking forward to the new opps from this mixer!

Alas for now, I'm not feeling too well so I'll need to rest up.  Got a models' rehearsal this Sunday for an upcoming fashion show in April so I want to be prepared for that....

I heard from the events coordinator at Lawson State in Birmingham, AL yesterday telling me how much the students want me to return this year for their annual "Rip the Runway" event in April!  Isn't that too kewl for words?!  I feel  honored!

THERE WILL BE 3 CATEGORIES OF DRESS... AND CELEBRITY JUDGES, SUCH AS R KELLY AS ONE OF THEM..I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A FASHION SHOW SINCE HIGH SCHOOL...WHEN I USED TO MAKE CLOTHES FOR CLASS!!  LOL!!

Well, PERSONALITY is key and having that transmit from the moment you step into the room until you leave is vital.  Looks are not everything b/c I have seen beautifully made up women but dead spirits or snooty people; even sometimes jealousy.  People usually show you who they are rt away if you are perceptive.  So, my advice is always just BE & DO YOU!!!!  Never be intimidated by "folks".  If you have something to offer (esp. to yourself), that'll shine forth.  Because you don't always know what they are looking for and competition is fierce, so revel in the fact it's an opportunity to do something different and unique."
